Live Independent Verifiable and reproducible Unpaywalled NASA-sourced

Astrophyzix Digital Observatory

Trusted for Asteroid News, Research, Data & Analysis

Astrophyzix Observatory — Unpaywalled, evidence-driven analysis, public research tools, real-time datasets, monitoring and tracking of all PHA/NEO asteroids and comets.

Every tracking console is designed and engineered here. Systems ingest official NASA datasets, then run live, verifiable probabilistic orbital analysis and deliver an instant deterministic summary of close approaches. Used by students, educators, researchers, and the public. Traceable, verifiable and transparent data provenance. Original research papers are published on Astrophyzix.academia.edu with registered DOIs.

Observatory Assistant

A proprietary question-and-answer assistant designed by Astrophyzix and built using tooling software from SpaceX. Gold standard science communication with Aerospace engineering.

Astrobot is not a generative AI model and does not hallucinate or assume. It only answers using pre-verified responses.

What it is

The Observatory Assistant is a deterministic assistant for the Astrophyzix Digital Observatory. When you ask a question, it matches it to a verified Astrophyzix note and returns that note. It does not write new answers, and it does not send your question to an AI model, it does not guess, it does not hallucinate.

The notes cover asteroid behaviour, NEO and PHA classification, NASA and JPL datasets, orbital mechanics, report terminology and the observatory’s tools. Answers are short, neutral and written for people reading live tracking data. The interface is designed by Astrophyzix and built with world leading systems tooling from SpaceX, which gives it a mission-control feel with institutional grade scientific standards.

How to open it

Select the speech bubble at the bottom right of the screen. The Observatory Assistant panel opens with an Archive online status and a few suggested questions to start with.

AstroBot Assistant

What you can do

  • See everything it covers. Ask What topics can I ask about? and it lists every question it can answer, grouped by area.
  • Tap a suggested question. Suggestions appear when you open the panel and again after each answer.
  • Type your own question. For example, What is a PHA?, What does miss distance mean? or CAD vs Scout?
  • Ask for more. Say more after an answer if a longer note exists.

What it covers

The observatory
What Astrophyzix is, whether it suits education and research, how to cite it, and how the assistant works.
Tracking and data
How asteroids are tracked, which datasets are used, how often they update, and terms like NEOCP, CAD, Scout, Dual-Watch, JPL Horizons, SBDB, NeoWs and CNEOS.
NEOs, PHAs and behaviour
What near-Earth objects and potentially hazardous asteroids are, what orbit classes mean, and why orbits get refined.
Reading a report
Every field on an asteroid report, from the Safe badge and miss distance to absolute magnitude, albedo, TDB, 3-sigma bands, condition codes and the monitoring window.
Risk and ARI
The ARI Risk Index, how it differs from the Torino and Palermo scales, and what Sentry is.
Orbits
Orbital concepts such as MOID.
Consoles and tools
Where to find the live asteroid tracker, how to search an SPK-ID, and what the Live Orbital Viewer, Orbital Refinement Console and Planetary Interior Console do.

What it does not do

It does not predict asteroid impacts. Nothing the assistant says is an impact prediction or a forecast. It explains terms, data, scales and tools so you can read Astrophyzix reports with confidence.

Astrophyzix is the legal owner the AstroBot system, including of all responses within. It only answers questions related to Astrophyzix. This software is not to be copied, distributed, sold or embedded without written permission.
